Vaccination Policy Testing Instructions and Resources

The GNWT began distributing testing kits on December 20, 2021, and plans to distribute remaining tests in early January.

Application of Policy

As set out in the GNWT COVID-19 Vaccination Policy (Policy), in accordance with the Safety Act, the GNWT has a duty to take all reasonable precautions and to adopt and carry out all reasonable techniques and procedures to ensure the health and safety of its employees and workplaces.  The Policy is intended to ensure the GNWT is meeting its responsibilities to employees.  The Policy is also intended to provide an additional measure of safety for residents of the Northwest Territories.

Under the Safety Act, a work site is any location where a worker is, or is likely to be, engaged in work.

It is important that departments and agencies consider all active employees when implementing the Policy, including employees who are working remotely.  Employees working remotely who have not provided proof of vaccination should be provided with testing materials and are required to follow Policy compliance protocols.

Once the attestations are completed, a copy should be provided to the employee to be kept with their Employee Testing Log and the original should be kept by the supervisor.
