Participants will leave this course with background knowledge on regional land use planning in the NWT and the practical skills required to participate in the GNWT’s role in regional land use planning processes (development and review) in the NWT.
Topics covered include theory and practical examples on:
- Land & Resource Management in the NWT
- Developing Land Use Plans: NWT as a Planning Partner
This course is for GNWT employees that (i) participate in the GNWT’s role in regional land use planning processes (e.g. development or review of regional land use plans) or (ii) require background knowledge on land use planning in order to issue or apply for authorizations for the use of land or water or the deposit of waste in the Sahtu or Gwich’in regions.

NOTE: This course offering will primarily focus on land use planning in the Sahtu region and participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops to the training session.
