

As a coach, you can practice letting go of control in the way you ask questions by following along with your employee’s train of thought.
By trusting in your employee to direct the flow of conversation, you are demonstrating your belief in them. This will also help to make the employee aware of where their interests lie.
As a coach, you might notice areas that your employee may seem to be avoiding. Maintaining trust and respect, you may wish to explore those areas by asking a question like, “I notice that you have not mentioned … Is there a reason for this?”
