Coaching Fundamentals

Lesson 4: Offering encouraging feedback

By making positive feedback part of your regular interactions with your employees, you are reinforcing coaching as a positive activity.

Feedback that tells people they have done well is crucial to a good coaching practice. By emphasizing when an employee has done a good job, or is moving in the right direction, you are encouraging further good performance, and building their self-confidence.

When people feel encouraged, supported and capable in their performance, they are more likely to follow up with more good work. As a coach who notices good performance, you are helping to create an environment where people will naturally feel motivated.
