Lesson 4: Offering corrective feedback

Only feedback option 3 in the previous scenario meets all the best coaching criteria. In order to answer all his manager’s questions, Matthew must reflect and get involved. He must develop both a high level of awareness and responsibility for his performance.

This process will teach him how to evaluate his own work and become more self-reliant. His manager, through coaching, has not only addressed the quality of the report, but has also helped him take ownership over future performance.
