Exit Interviews

Employees who are resigning or retiring have the option to take part in an exit interview.

Exit interviews give employees a confidential opportunity to share feedback about their experience working with the GNWT, including what worked well and where improvements could be made. For employees, exit interviews are a safe way to be heard and brings closure to their employment experience. For the GNWT, aggregated feedback supports organizational learning, workforce planning, and continuous improvement over time.

Participation is entirely voluntary. Feedback is collected by an independent third-party provider and shared with the GNWT in an anonymized, aggregated form only.

Who can participate

All GNWT employees who are resigning, retiring, whose term has ended, or who are leaving the GNWT through termination may request an exit interview.

Requesting an exit interview

Employees may request an exit interview by completing an Exit Interview Request Form.

Taking part in an exit interview

Exit interviews are delivered by ProEdge Consulting Ltd., an independent third party service provider. This approach helps ensure confidentiality and creates a respectful, culturally safe environment for employees to share open and honest feedback.

Employees who wish to participate begin by completing the Exit Interview Request Form and submitting it directly to ProEdge Consulting Ltd. Once the form is received, ProEdge will contact the employee within 5-7 business days using their preferred contact method. Employees can also decline to participate at any time if they change their minds.

ProEdge will work with employees to choose the exit interview format that works best for them. Options include:

  • A confidential online survey employees can complete independently
  • A telephone interview
  • A virtual interview (such as Microsoft Teams)

Participation takes place at a time that fits the employee’s schedule, and you may contact ProEdge after the interview to clarify or revise feedback.
Feedback is anonymized and combined with other responses before being shared with the GNWT. Individual comments are not attributed or identifiable.

Exit interviews are confidential and voluntary. Participating in an exit interview, or choosing not to participate, will not affect references, rehire eligibility, or your personnel record.

Please refer to the Confidentiality and Limits of Confidentiality Statement and the Escalation Protocol Addendum listed under Documents below for further clarification on how confidentiality is maintained, the circumstances in which confidentiality may be limited, and the process for escalating serious safety, legal, or organizational concerns.
