Self-Service

PeopleSoft HRIS is an employee information and pay system.  All employees have access to the Self-Service module. It allows you to:

  • View and change personal information

  • Enter Working hours (if applicable)

  • Enter and keep track of leave balances

  • Review dependent and benefit information

  • View compensatory information like pay advices, T4s, and salary history

PeopleSoft HRIS User Manuals are available online for self-study. The training modules are available both for new users and as a refresher.  They contain PeopleSoft HRIS processes for employees (Self-Service), supervisors (Manager Self-Service), and recruitment users (Hiring Managers). The online modules will allow you to view, try, do, and print the processes.In addition, the Learning & Development Calendar provides regular opportunities for GNWT staff to take PeopleSoft HRIS Training in both live and web-based format for several modules (Manager Self-Service, Hiring Managers, and ePerformance).

First time signing onto PeopleSoft HRIS? 

User ID: firstname.lastname (all lowercase)

Password: Your 6 digit employee ID number followed by the first 3 digits of your Social Insurance Number.

Documentation Sessions

To prevent delays in your access to various compulsory or optional benefits please email hrhelpdesk@gov.nt.ca to schedule a benefits documentation session.

Remember to bring the following to your session:

  • A copy of your birth certificate;

  • A copy of your dependant’s birth certificate (if applicable);

  • Marriage certificate or common-law statutory declaration (if applicable).

Employee Identification Cards

The employee ID card is a form of photo identification that states you are an employee of the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT). Generally, these are acquired when an employee takes part in their Benefits Documentation Session. Photo ID cards expire five (5) years from the date of issue and you can request a new card if you change Departments. Employee ID cards need to be returned to the Department of Finance – Financial & Employee Shared Services when your existing card expires or upon termination of employment with the GNWT. You can obtain an Employee ID card by visiting any of our Financial & Employee Shared Services Centers as listed below:

Yellowknife: 2nd Floor of the Laing Building (5003-49th Street) Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, excluding the 12:00 – 1:00 pm lunch hour.

Hay River: Suite 209, 2nd Floor of the True Value Building (62 Woodland Drive) Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, excluding the 12:00 – 1:00 pm lunch hour.

Fort Smith: Gordon Cumming Building (83 Breynat St) Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, excluding the 12:00 – 1:00 pm lunch hour.

Fort Simpson: Nahendeh Building (9706-100 St) Thursday from 3:00-5:00 pm, however additional appointments can be accommodated upon request.

Behchoko: 2nd Floor Nishi Khon Building – contact 867-392-6826 to schedule an appointment.

Inuvik: GNWT Multi Use Building (106 Veteran’s Way – Suite 320) Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, excluding the 12:00 – 1:00 pm lunch hour.

Norman Wells: 8 Town Square Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, excluding the 12:00 – 1:00 pm lunch hour.
