What are the qualifications of the EAP counselors?

GreenShield’s EAP counselors are highly skilled and qualified professionals. They all have a minimum of a master’s degree in the counselling discipline (i.e., Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, etc.), and they have several years of experience in a variety of counselling settings, which means they are equipped to deal with a diverse group of people and a wide range of problems.

What happens during a counselling session?

Once you select your counsellor, you are able to view the counsellor's availability and book a free inital 15-minute consultation at a day and time convenient to you. This can help you decide if they are a good fit to move forward.

How quickly can an individual have an appointment with an EAP counselor?

Depending on the counsellor you choose, you may be able to get your initial consultation with them within 24 hours. You will be able to view the counsellor's calendar schedule availability and should be able to get an appointment within 3-5 depending on the circumstances and client needs. 

How does the hotline work?

Although most prefer to access and book their appointments online. The EAP hotline is staffed by GreenShield+ professional client support specialists and counsellors 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The hotline numbers is: 1-833-707-4747; select service in English or French, and follow the prompts for immediate support. 

 

 

Does an employee have to make the initial contact for a family member?

No. In fact, a family member must access the service on their own behalf since appointment requests from a third party are not accepted. EAP is a voluntary service that is available for those that choose to use it.

What type of information does GNWT receive about the use of EFAP?

The only type of information that is provided to the GNWT by GreenShield+ is a summary of the numerical and statistical information associated with program participants. This information is ‘numbers only’, and will in no way identify any individual who has used the service.

GreenShield+ realizes the importance of confidentiality to those who use EAP; confidentiality is respected and maintained by each and every individual within the GreenShield organization.

How can employees and their family members be assured of complete confidentiality?

GreenShield has rigorous policies and procedures to safeguard the privacy and security of personal information held by GreenShield. The Privacy Policy can be found on the GreenShield website.
