OHS awareness training is critical in understanding roles and responsibilities to managing health, safety & wellness in the workplace.
Understanding how to assess and approach and report on health, safety and wellness concerns in the workplace is a joint responsibility between the employer, employees and the Occupational Health and Safety Committees in your departments.
Mandatory OHS Training
- Workplace Safety Awareness
All GNWT employees are required to take the online Workplace Safety Awareness module as they onboard to a position within the GNWT. This course is available whenever you need it and is recommended whenever you change positions within the GNWT.
It does not replace job-specific safety training.
- Supervisor Safety Training
GNWT employees at every level of a supervisory role, including those who assume an Acting supervisory role, are required to take Supervisor Safety Training as mandated by the Safety Act of the Northwest Territories. Courses are instructor-led in person or online.
As there is a cost to this course, enrollment is only complete when your supervisor has approved it.
Departments can arrange to have training scheduled for their teams.
