Introduction
- The Public Service Act excludes certain employees from being members of the Union of Northern Workers (UNW) bargaining unit.
Application
- These guidelines apply to all employees except teachers and those employed by the NWT Power Corporation.
Guidelines
- When a position is created or the duties of a position change and a new job description is written or revised, the Deputy Head of the Department, Board or Agency requesting the exclusion forwards a copy of the job description and organizational chart along with the rationale for the exclusion request to the Director of Labour Relations. The letter should include a reference to the appropriate section of the Public Service Act to which the exclusion applies.
