Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP): The EFAP is a confidential, voluntary counseling and referral service available to GNWT employees and their dependents. The program is designed to help with personal or work-related issues before they become more serious. GNWT Employee Onboarding Program: Starting a new job is exciting. It also may be overwhelming for new employees with all the new information that they are expected to review. Completing a formalized onboarding program will help to create a smooth transition into their new role and workplace. A Supervisors Guide to New Employee Onboarding will provide you as the supervisor with all the information and tools you need to guide your employee through this process. Employees are able to register for the New Employees Guide to Onboarding through the Learning and Development calendar.

Internship Program: The Internship Program provides an opportunity for northern post-secondary graduates to gain relevant and hands-on work experience with the GNWT. Internships are up to two-years in duration and are intended to provide first work experience relevant to the graduate’s field of study.  Departments, Boards, Authorities and Agencies may apply for a subsidy to offset the costs associated with hiring a northern post-secondary graduate.

Summer Student Employment Program (SSEP): The SSEP provides Northern post-secondary students with summer employment with the GNWT between April 15th and August 15th.  During this time period, students are given hiring priority over other casual workers for positions available in Departments, Boards, Authorities and Agencies.
