How do I initiate a competition?

Action:

  1. You must obtain written approval from the appropriate departmental authority to fill a vacant position.
     
  2. Ask your Human Resource Representative for a copy of the current job description for a vacant position. Review the current job description to ensure it accurately reflects the duties of the position.  If changes are required, refer to the job evaluation section of the Toolkit for further information.
     
  3. Consult with your Client Service Representative for the GNWT’s staffing process and competition timelines.
